The Florida Institute of Recording, Sound and Technology first opened itsdoors in 2004, and has since provided training in all aspects of digitalmedia. Its academics are designed for beginners, so you don't need tohave any experience to apply.F.I.R.S.T. offers training programs in Audio Engineering & MusicProduction and Film & Video Production. Both programs are eight monthslong and consist of about 350 clock hours.The Audio Engineering & Music Production program gives a comprehensiveoverview of recording equipment and techniques, both analog and digital.The curriculum includes independent lab and internship hours, as well ascourses in basic and advanced recording, MIDI, mixing and editing.The Film & Video Production curriculum is similarly structured, with acombination of classroom instruction, independent lab work, andinternship experience. The program covers all aspects of production, fromthe initial stages to post-production.To apply to the Florida Institute of Recording, Sound and Technology, youmust hold a high school diploma or equivalent. All applicants must alsohave basic computer skills and a strong desire to learn.
