R2 PROMISE – R2 PRODUCER RESPONSIBILITY ORGANISATION, MANAGEMENT INFORMATION AND SUPPORT for E-waste disposal– proposes to provide producers and manufacturers the necessary services for meeting their mandatory and legal obligations.As the cost of setting up of a dedicated exclusive collection, recycling and disposal units for the handling of used products is unlikely to be cost effective, organizations prefer to share the same with a view to minimizing costs. Besides organizations would also need to individually acquire/develop skills for assessing the needs and develop compliance methodologies. Thus the manufacturer/producer is better off in employing a competent organization which shoulders the producer’s responsibility on his behalf, supports compliance with the laid down rules and regulations and provides necessary management information and product support system to minimize the use of resources and costs.
