The Bolden Mack Park Summer Basketball League was founded in 2017 by Andrew Ayodeji and Daniel J. Lloyd as a way to help reduce crimes in their communities during the summer months. The Summer League offers the youth of our neighborhoods with the necessary tools to utilize their athletic talents as a means of personal growth.The goal for the 2018 Bolden Mack Park Summer Basketball League, is to empower youth and young adults from the North Amityville, Copaigue, Wyandanch and surrounding communities with consistent outdoor activities. The mission is to help reduce crimes in tour most at risk communities during the summer months, with a consistent and positive outdoor experience. In addition, we offer families a positive outside activity that engages children, youth and adults. It is a known fact that establishing consistent outdoor activations thwarts gun violence. Bolden Mack Park Summer Basketball League is a 8 week long tournament that operates through June - August. They organize and sponsor the youth teams so they have the opportunity play in a competitive athletic environment for free, which includes; high quality uniforms, professional referees and complementary lunch. They also provide free professional athletic training once a month, as well discuss with the youth about how to solve problems and cultivate innovative solutions to the problems they mention.OUTCOMES: To have 16 teams to participate in the tournament and 200 spectators per day including youth and adults totaling over 4000 individuals throughout the summer.PERFORMANCE MEASURES: We have evaluation response forms that are presented to attendees, facilitators and leaders, law enforcement and officials at the end of the season. We then collect the data and are able to measure the impact our programs are having.
