Dream in Plastic was born in a basement in Brooklyn in 2007, as a website. It was formed by childhood best friends who wanted to create a website that offered a culmination of everything they love and shop for themselves. They had always been notoriously good gift-givers, and extended their playful and fun attitudes to the product offerings on the site. The site offered an eclectic mix of art, housewares, designer vinyl art toys, stationery, cameras, accessories and more. In 2009 they opened the first retail location in the hip Hudson River town of Beacon, NY.In August of 2019, Dream in Plastic changed the company name to Zakka Joy.
